With Ms. Elaine Joy Jalmasco Pena, BSSW Batch 2015 landing the first place in last year’s Social Work Licensure Board Examinations, ASI was inspired to conduct once again the 2016 Board Review Class at the Francis Senden Memorial Hall on May 23 to June 13.
This year, there were 123 reviewees led by the ASI BSSW Batch 2016 and Social Work graduates from the following participating schools: Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela, Unibersidad de Manila, Western Palawan University, Meycauayan College, Colegio de San Gabriel Arcanghel, La Consolacion University, Western Mindanao State University, Sacred Heart of Lucena, Philippine Christian Univesity, DHVTSU Bacolor, Siliman University, Bicol University, Baliuag University, University of Rizal System, Columban College, Wesleyan University, Capiz State University, Cavite State University, Central Philippines University, Christ the King College, and St. Mary Magdalene College, making a total of 23 participating schools and universities in the 2016 ASI Board Review Class.
The team of Social Work Board Review in ASI is led by Dr. Ines V. Danao, BSSW Section Head of ASI, and Prof. Nelida A. Cayas, ASI Field Instruction and Field Exposure Coordinator of Social Development Department. Other Lecturers and Instructors are Prof. Lourdes G. Balanon, former Undersecretary of Dept. of Social Welfare and Development, Prof. Erlinda C. Albarracin, former Guidance Counselor and Faculty in Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Prof. Edna V. Cunanan, former Chief of Medical Social Services at the Philippine General Hospital, Prof. Dolores B. Rubia, After-Case Program Manager, International Justice Mission. Assisting them by coordinating with schools for reviewers, efficiently ensuring availability of lecture and board exam review materials and supplies, and coordinating with the schedules of the reviewers and lecturers is Ms. Carol C. Price, BSSW Secretary.
In a feature of last year’s Social Work Board Passers, Dr. Mina Ramirez said that Ms. Elaine Pena follows the tradition of excellence in Social Work in ASI, that had produced a good number of Top Ten Social Work Board passers, and a record of 100% passing mark of its BSSW graduates.
Preceding Ms. Elaine Joy Pena as the 2012 Social Work Board Topnotcher were Ms. Kristine Josephine Asuncion Tan (in 2008), Ms. Rita Dincog, Sr. Victrucua Pascasio (1971) and Mr. Alejandro Apit (1970).
Other ASI Top Ten Placers were Ms. Nelibeth Mercado (#6) in 2012, and in 2010, ASI had Ms. Rheodora Adorable (#3) and Ms. Norlyn Jean Campita (#7). In 2008, aside from bagging the Top One (Kristine Josephine Asuncion Tan) in the Board, ASI placed #3 with Ms. Irene Quizon, #5 with Mr. Vladimir Ayrosa Castillo and #8 was Fr. Orville Reyes Cajigal. In 2007, ASI ranked #4 through Ms. Irminia Cabuenos Zabala.
This year’s Social Work Licensure Examinations had been indefinitely rescheduled from its original dates (July 28 & 29), until further notice.
